Mr Nathaniel Bateson

Position:
EYFS Phase Leader & Reception Teacher
Qualifications:
BA with Honours in Early Years Teaching with Qualified Teacher Status, University of Cumbria; Level 3 Archimedes Forest School Leader
Since I began teaching at ISM as a Reception Teacher I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. In particular, I enjoy outdoor learning and getting children outside as much as possible. As a qualified Forest School Leader, I have particularly enjoyed watching children explore the forest and develop their own independence, self confidence and manage their own risks. At ISM, I try to use this qualification to enhance my own personal teaching and beleive it is important to connect what we learn in class to hands on experiences that we can learn in nature. Through this connection, we can create well-rounded individuals. Away from Moscow, I am a proud northerner and love returning home whenever I can see the Lake District in all its beauty. I enjoy keeping fit by playing and watching rugby, cricket, running in the countryside, football (Manchester United) and skiing on a regular basis. As well as team sports, I am also a keen marathon runner and have run in several big marathons including the London Marathon three times, as well as Edinburgh twice.
